It is a bit weird when I think about it, but I actually have many more long-term goals than short term goals, so the college and high school "bucket lists" will probably be fairly short compared to the life time one.
In terms of my high school bucket list, I have two main goals really I suppose:
1. Become at least minimally proficient in Japanese. Unfortunately, I have become a bit lazy when it comes to studying Japanese as of late. On the other hand, though, a recent lull in games releasing that interest me will hopefully re-kindle my interest in the language. I definitely need to go over grammar conventions again as I have unfortunately lost quite a bit of previously acquired knowledge. On the other hand, I have started a Japanese club which should help me as well as others, and my vocabulary has improved immensely.
2. This one is rather basic, but getting good grades.
3. I need to learn how to stop procrastinating and find ways to motivate myself. As you can see by post date of this blog entry, this hasn't been going too well....
In terms of my college bucket list, I have:
1. Study abroad for at least one year in Japan. What can I say, I visited the country for two weeks over the summer, and I fell in love with it. After being burned out for a couple months afterward (mostly because I had been doing quite a bit of research prior to the trip) and watching as my dad began to become a bit of a Japanophile himself, I realized that I really wanted to re-visit it again. I still don't know if I quite want to live in Japan to be perfectly honest, but studying abroad will give me a good idea of what it would be like.
2. After four years of University of Kentucky for the basic Associate's degree, I want to transfer to a college that specializes in Computer Science related classes and earn at least a Master's degree.
3. Try to get job experience as an intern, unpaid if it comes down to such circumstances.
In terms of my lifetime bucket list:
1. Either A. if I find that I would really enjoy living in Japan, moving to Japan, finding an affordable apartment, and securing a job that pays well or B. if I find that I would probably not enjoy living in Japan, then I would probably move to a place like Colorado or Oregon, find an affordable apartment, and secure a job that pays well.
2. Once I make decent enough living, in both situations, I would try to find a proper, affordable home.
3. Work until I retire or die, whichever comes first I suppose.
4. If I make it to retirement, which, considering my usual cautiousness and people living extraordinarily long on my father's side of the family, is fairly likely, I would like to live out the rest of my days playing video games, both old and new.... Hopefully, I will not have grown too old to play video games by then....
By the way, for those who think that playing video games is immature, childish, etc., get off your pedestal; video games are no lesser of a medium than television, books, or movies, despite their now outdated title.
